STEP 3

The teacher should also familiarise themselves with the materials required for the lesson on
- Vietnam: pages 14 and 15 on Vietnamese Presenters and Computer Driver Sheets
- English: pages 34 and 35 on the English Presenters and Computer Driver Sheets.

STEP 4

Prepare the following list of items for the class:
- Computer with speakers and a keyboard to control the character in the lesson
- Magical Leaders website

- Lesson projected on the whiteboard
- One Presenter Sheet for each presenter, computer driver and teacher, 4 required for a typical class with 30 students
- One Group Leader Sheet for each group leader and teacher, 5 required for a typical class with 30 students
- Each pupil should have a Mission Log and one for the teacher, 31 required for a typical class with 30 student
- Assign roles for the teaching team:

What will the teacher do in the Magical Leaders Student
Preparation Class?

In the Magical Leaders Student Preparation Class you need to do the following:

All Students

All students in the class should look at the lesson overview video on:

- Vietnamese Skull Island Lesson Page
- English Skull Island Lesson Page

Presenters

(2 students from Group 1)

Vietnamese: Should start on page 17 of the Vietnamese Presenter and Computer Driver Sheets and read through each screen and think about what they might say for each screen.

English: Should start on page 37 of the English Presenter and Computer Driver Sheets and read through each screen and think about what they might say for each screen.

The presenters should remember they are the storytellers. They are facilitating the learning for their classmates. The presenters and computer driver need to work with their teacher to get the best possible learning outcome for themselves and their classmates. The presenters should make sure they know what they are going to say and do. If they have any questions about the lesson they should ask their teacher. The presenters can also practice at home by getting their friends and family to  play the role of the pupils that they will be helping during the class when they teach the lesson to their peers. The number priority for the preparation lesson is to make sure well presenters are very well prepared for the lesson and feel confident.

 

Computer Driver:

Should access the lesson content through the “Play” button on the Vietnamese Skull Island Lesson Page or English Skull Island Lesson Page

The computer driver should practice navigating around Skull Island using the arrow keys on the keyboard or the WASD keys on the keyboard to find the 8 phones. The computer driver will navigate to the correct phone and screen when asked to do so by the presenters.

Group Leaders:

(4 students from Group 1)

The group leaders should read through the Vietnamese Group Leaders Sheets located on the Vietnamese Skull Island Lesson Page or the English Group Leaders Sheets located on the English Skull Island Lesson Page

The group leaders should think about what kind of answers the pupils might give and what questions they could ask to get everyone thinking. If they have any questions about the lesson they should ask their teacher. They can also practice at home by getting their friends and family to play the role of the students that they will be helping during the lesson.

Students:

The students should read the Pupil Overview and Key Messages in the Vietnamese Pupils Sheets located on the Vietnamese Skull Island Lesson Page or in the English Pupils Sheets located on the English Skull Island Lesson Page

In small groups of 2-3 students, the students should explore why good communication is important in life. They should write in the books, examples of what they should do to communicate effectively at home or in class.
